Sempai,
This is Rodney, Eben's father. I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for all of your hard work with Eben. Now that his mother and I have "disengaged" with our expectations, your work is truly producing fruit. Eben now wants to go to tournaments, spar and participate as I believe he should in every Purple Dragon activity. He works very hard and is really dedicated and focused on being Purple Dragon Georgia's first black belt. I have no doubt that he can achieve that status eventually, but wanted you to know that he can actually feel, taste and smell that achievement.
His mother and I will completely support your efforts and we are more than willing to do our part to help him in his upbringing, his discipline and execution of the life lessons and technical discipline you instill into him. I knew you could do wonders for him if we left him alone and we allowed you the opportunity to work your magic. Thank you very much and we will do everything we can to promote Purple Dragon and drive others here as evangelists for Purple Dragon because of your hard work, patience and dilligence.
We love you, your family and your work with our child. Allowing Eben to enroll and learn from your instruction and experience is the greatest parental achievement to date. We are very grateful and appreciate all that you do.
>From the heart,
Rodney

2009 US Open Karate Championship and the Battle Of Atlanta.
The tension had been building for weeks as the weekend of the US open drew nearer. Everyone was extremely excited and focused as they honed their skills in preparation for this international event. Not only was this to be the first time Purple Dragon GA competed in the US open, it would be the first time for many of its students to meet their brothers and sisters from across the country and around the world. Trinidad and Tobago, The Cayman Islands, Antigua, and many other countries were out in force to represent Purple Dragon at this prestigious martial arts event. Everywhere you turned there were the familiar purple and yellow colors of the purple dragon family. They huddled along the sidelines cheering-on and supporting those who were giving their all in the heat of competition. When the dust had settled and it was time to head back home, nearly every Purple dragon student had earned trophies or medals to display proudly in their dojo where they work tirelessly to learn and perfect their art. No sooner had Purple dragon GA returned home to celebrate their victory when the training for the next event began….. The Battle of Atlanta! Within two weeks Purple Dragon GA was back out on the floor proving this time to a more local crowd that We are Purple Dragon! and we came to win!! A few familiar faces from past tournaments and many new ones greeted the students as the morning of the battle arrived. Several new Purple Dragon students got their first taste of competition that morning and in fitting style, walked away with the shiny trophies to prove that they too are warriors! Still riding the energy gained at the US Open, it was no surprise that Purple Dragon once again had to clear extra room out in the car to carry all of the trophies back to the dojo in Cartersville. Until the next time… Who are we? WE ARE PURPLE DRAGON!!
Ush,
San John Gouge

Testimonials to Sensei Kamau
Feb 4th 2009
I have enjoyed my time training with Sensei Kamau. When he teaches he makes what you are doing both hard and fun. Sensei Kamau is also very patient when he teaches and doesnt mind working with you if you are having trouble.
San: Erik Baskin
My personal experience with Sensei Kamau was one of complete awe. His experience. In additional to his physical size showed fitness through raw power. His recounts of his personal life in his homeland, made me appreciate the freedoms & civil liberties that many of us take for granted. I look forward to one day traveling to Trinidad to train at his dojo.
San: Bryan Canty
I like Sensei, because he was cool. And he told us stories and they were awesome. He mad classes fun which makes it even more fun, I am not saying Sensei was more funnier then Sempai I am saying he is fun just as fun as Sempai. I cant wait to see him again
at grading.
San: Meghan Woodruff
I enjoyed Senseis visit, because he kept his mind on one thing until we got it right.
I was impressed with his style and energy. I look forward to seeing him again
San: John Rose

San: Lane Carnley
Dear Sensei Kamau:
You were very funny, but you worked us hard! Thank you for helping me learn my techniques and strong punches. Thank you for fixing my stances and helping me with my kicks.
San: Ashtlyn Carnley
Dear Sensei Kamau:
Thank you very much for coming to the United States to train me. I really enjoyed your classes and the energy you brought to the dojo. I learned a lot from you. I hope you come back to visit soon.
San: Peter Germ
I liked Sensei visit because he helped us with our requirements and showed us the changes in them. He helped us prepare for grading we also learned something new he helped us with our fitness, basics, katas, and break falls. He showed us the new way coming up from our rolls, he tested us on our strength, kias, cardio and flexibility we used the band to do our sit ups, kicks, plus curl ups. We had help from Sensei with our sparring drills and we used them in our sparring. He showed Instructor the changes in our kata so we could use them he showed us the bonkai for our requirement he showed us what to do if we didnt defend ourselves. He gave us the history about Professor Don Jacob, he showed us how to use the bo-staff in our stances.
San: Joshua Fox
Sensei Kamau Drayton is a wonderful teacher, inspire, and overall great person.
He opened my mind up ( more ) to the wonderful sport of martial arts. From day one his
lectures and training sessions always kept my attention and interest throughout the entire
class. I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say his drills taught us all very important
techniques and mechanics to further strengthen our abilities. His lectures were meaningful and interesting, full of life lessons that are meant to be cherished forever, his stay was very much appreciated and respected, and a blessing beyond all else.

PDI GA's First Tournament
Purple Dragon International,
Friends, I trust this finds you all doing very well and your lives are filled with excitement and challenges. PDI Georgia competed in its first tournament over the weekend of April 26, 2008. There were seven of us who competed and it was the first tournament for 5 of the 7. When we walked into the gymnasium, we were all a little nervous. There were many people from many different dojos and everyone was sizing each other up. Some were old friends; many people were new to each other but will be friends long after this weekend. There were many different styles of martial arts represented. Most of the schools were Tae Kwon Do schools but there were also many people who were performing based on Karate, Kempo, Kung Fu and of course purple dragon!!!!!!

Professor Jacob's Visit to PDI GA for Grading
USH PURPLE DRAGON MEMBERS,
Wow!!! What an awesome night for grading. The night was cool and fall was in the air. Professor Jacob was visiting the Atlanta area for the first time and it was our first grading at the Purple Dragon Dojo in Cartersville , Georgia. Not only was it exciting to have Professor Jacob in town for grading but it was also Halloween. The strip mall where our dojo is located was having a trick-or-treat celebration for all of the local children in town. Each business in the strip mall had its doors open where the children and parents could come and go as they pleased. Most were in costume to celebrate Halloween which added to the excitement of our first grading with Professor Jacob. To our pleasure, our dojo was filled with parents, friends others we had just met. The dojo was also filled with instructors from other area dojos who came to see what Purple Dragon was all about
